How To Become A Teacher?

International Yoga Teacher Training Courses (IYTTC^®) credential is earned by yoga teachers whose training and teaching experience meet IYTTC^® standards.

A teacher must:

• Complete training with and receive confirmation from an International Yoga Teacher Training Courses (IYTTC^®) at the 200 or 500-hour level;
• Complete 30 hours of Continuing Education every three years; and pay annual membership fees.

200 Hours - International Yoga Teacher Training Courses (IYTTC^® 200)

Teachers can register as an IYTTC^® 200 if they have successfully completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training that is registered with IYTTC^®. All training hours must come from the same school, and multiple trainings cannot be combined to meet the 200-hour requirement.

300 Hours - International Yoga Teacher Training Courses (IYTTC^® 300)

Teachers can register as an IYTTC^® 300 if they have successfully completed a 300-hour yoga teacher training that is registered with IYTTC^®. All training hours must come from the same school, and multiple trainings cannot be combined to meet the 300-hour requirement.

500 Hours - International Yoga Teacher Training Courses (IYTTC^® 500)

Teachers can register as an IYTTC^® 500 if they have successfully completed a 500-hour yoga teacher training that is registered with IYTTC^®. The 500 hours of training can either come from one school or can be a combination of 200-hour teacher training plus an additional 300-hour advanced teacher training from a different IYTTC^®. Applicants must also submit 100 teaching hours that were completed after their 200 hours or 500 hours of training.

Master Level - International Yoga Teacher Training Courses (IYTTC^® Master Level - II - III)

Teachers can register as an IYTTC^® Master Level if they have successfully completed a 500-hour yoga teacher training that is registered with IYTTC^® and have taught a minimum of four years since completing training with an IYTTC^® 200. The 500 hours of training can either come from one school or can be a combination of 200-hour training plus an additional 300-hour advanced teacher training from a different IYTTC^®. Applicants must submit 2,000 teaching hours for this designation, 1,500 of which must have been taught after completing training with 200 hours. The remaining 500 teaching hours must have been taught after completing training with 300 hours or 500 hours.

IYTTC^® Kid's Yoga Teacher    

Teachers can register as IYTTC^® Kid Yoga Teachers if they have successfully completed both a 200-hour yoga teacher training and a 95-hour kid yoga teacher training—in either order—that are registered with IYTTC^®. Applicants must submit 30 teaching hours in kid yoga which must be performed after completing training with an IYTTC^® kid yoga teacher.

IYTTC^® Pre-natal and Post-natal Yoga Teacher      

Teachers can register as IYTTC^® Pre-natal and Post-natal Yoga Teachers if they have successfully completed both a 200-hour yoga teacher training and an 85-hour pre-natal and post-natal yoga training—in either order—that are registered with IYTTC^®. Applicants must submit 30 teaching hours in Pre-natal and Post-natal, which must be performed after completing training with an IYTTC^® pre-natal and post-natal yoga Teacher.
